YAD Cluster Code of Conduct

The Young Adult Division (YAD) of the United Jewish Federation offers many exciting ways to get involved and get connected for young, Jewish professionals in their 20s, 30s, and early 40s. YAD Clusters are social networking groups and they should maintain a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable forum for Cluster attendees and Chairs.

Eligibility: Participation in a YAD Cluster is specifically limited to those individuals who are eligible to attend general YAD events (Jewish individuals between the ages of 25 and 45).  Although we welcome people of all backgrounds, the YAD Clusters are ultimately geared toward serving the Jewish community.

Non-Commercial Use by Cluster Chairs and Members (Solicitation):  YAD Clusters are for the personal use of YAD members only and may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by YAD administrators. YAD Cluster chairs and members agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes, any information, including email addresses, gained as a result of being a YAD Cluster Chair or Member.  Illegal or unauthorized use of the Clusters, including collecting email addresses or other personal information for the purpose of sending unsolicited emails, is prohibited. In an effort to preserve the privacy of Cluster Chairs and Members, please try to protect your email list by blind copying (BCC) the recipient email addresses when sending out email messages.

Courtesy and Respect: YAD Cluster chairs and members are to be courteous to every YAD Cluster member, even those of which belief or conduct you disagree. Disruptive or offensive behavior is strictly prohibited. This includes any behavior that is patently offensive, harasses or advocates harassment of another person, or exploits people in a harmful manner.

Cluster/YAD Relationship: YAD and the clusters should benefit each other symbiotically. Cluster leaders are expected to update the YAD staff at least twice a year with their cluster roster. Cluster leaders will also promote YAD events to their members. YAD will likewise advertise cluster events through weekly e-blasts, the YAD website, and event flyers. Additionally, as a YAD Program, clusters will follow UJF guidelines, and shall not hold events on Shabbat or advertise non-kosher food.

Appropriate Usage of YAD Cluster Groups/List serves: Sending an excessive amount of emails and forwarding unsolicited information is seen as being disrespectful of the recipient’s time, privacy, and an inappropriate use of bandwidth. Although YAD encourages the development of personal associations within the group, YAD Cluster Chairs and Members should reserve the use of the Cluster email lists solely for Cluster and YAD activities. YAD administrators have the authority to limit individual usage of email communication if they feel it is being abused or over used.

Comments and Concerns: Any comments and concerns should be directed to YAD staff at (858) 571-3444 or yad@ujfsd.org.
